Other Projects: As a performer I
am involved and various other projects that sometimes include puppets and
sometimes not.
These other
projects range in age appropriateness from working with toddlers to working in
retirement communities, to performing an evening show in a grownup setting.
All of my projects
involve story and the importance of connecting and sharing our commonalities as
humans. Stories connect us and everyone has a life story to tell and a need to
share our living life story.
In the Spirit of
Storytelling I am excited to share my stories and grow personally as a
performance artist. Below you will
find descriptions and links to this other facet of my career.
Thank you,
Penny
Walter, the hardest working woman in show business, is
going to kick off the season with an adult puppet show that will have
you laughing and crying and singing along.
Combining her 2009 solo show, "With My Own Two Hands" and her 2010
performance, "Out Of The Box," Penny will take us on an autobiographical
journey into the wacky world of a professional puppeteer.
It’s a world filled with strange and wonderful characters, like George,
her curmudgeonly father; Val, her super-sweet mom; and Nikki, her rowdy
college roommate (“Dude!!!”).
This is going to be more fun than a person really ought to have in one
night. One weekend only ---- don't miss it!
We serve the Portland, Oregon Metropolitan area. Our
goal is to bring together and nurture people who tell, listen to, and
love stories by elevating the art and power of storytelling in all its
forms into our daily lives. The Portland
Storytellers' Guild works to
preserve the ancient tradition of oral story-telling in the modern
world. We do not read, but rather, tell our
stories. We tell myths, legends, folktales, historical stories and
personal tales. We strive to discover and convey
the universal themes
and messages in our stories.
Scratch Pdx
A
monthly open stage night which provides a venue for performance artists
of all genres to explore new material and get crucial feedback.
Audiences have the opportunity to see local artists working at various
stages of the creative process.
Dance,
music, storytelling, clown, puppetry, stand-up, short plays,
improvisation. Seasoned performers. People stepping onto stage for the
first time. Every month, diverse performers and an intimate atmosphere
combine for an exciting event.
Storytelling draws on
aspects of human nature that are deeply embedded in our psyches. The narrative
tradition is as old as civilization itself. Storytelling evokes a primal human
response and invites people into a process of communication, change, and
growth.
Imagine a gathering place where story is the focus and everything revolves
around story. RiverCity Stories is just such
a place, a story place that offers joyful experiences that ignite people's
creativity, imagination, and inspiration, bringing everyone in the community
together.
Our hope is to build a
storytelling venue and meeting place, where stories can be told and heard in a
creative safe place. This would be an
all age venue with stories for children, teens, adults and families.Performances as well as workshops for the
young, old and business perspective would occur in this venue.
